In the winter of 2014 – 2015 I took on a detailed survey of the status of non-destructive testing (NDT) in metal additive manufacturing. This was a fascinating look at how new technologies can work together to support old, e.g. removing the need to keep legacy moulds for parts that are rarely used or being able to make qualified parts on the fly (or sail!).
