The Company

Incorporated in 2012, Sharratt Research and Consulting Inc. is an independent consultancy founded and operated by the principal consultant, Bree Sharratt. Bree is passionate about gathering and sharing knowledge that supports the continued success of her client companies.  Primarily focused on materials issues, past projects cover several industries but maintain the thread of good materials selection and intentional use of materials in design.

Experience

2012 – present…   Materials consultant to companies across disciplines such as composite recycling (e.g. CRTC), aerospace (e.g. Viking Air Limited), automotive (e.g. Meccanica), and defense (e.g. DRDC). Specializing in corrosion and materials selection.

2009 – 2011   Sr. Engineer at Profile Composites in Sidney, B.C.  Responsible for R&D in advanced composite manufacturing. Our major effort during this time was on developing a technology for rapid manufacturing of high pressure gas storage devices.

2007-2009   Consultant to various companies including StarFish Medical, Perimeter Aviation, Viking Air Limited, NRC-HIA. Specializing in material mechanics, materials and processes, and prior art documentation.

2006   Lecturer and Postdoctoral Scholar in Stanford University‘s Department of Materials Science and Engineering, teaching 3rd year material mechanics and researching the mechanics of shape memory polymers for medical applications.

Education

PhD (2006) Aeronautics and Astronautics from Stanford University, specializing in materials. Research on Adhesion and Subcritical Debonding of Polymer / Inorganic Interfaces carried out under the purview of an excellent advisor, Dr. Reinhold Dauskardt and supported by wonderful committee members Dr. George Springer and Dr. Richard Christiensen.

MS (2002) Aeronautics and Astronautics at Stanford University.

BSc (2001) Engineering Science, Space Option from Colorado State University with a double major in Mechanical Engineering and minors in Mathematics and French. Plus a lot of time spent on the golf course as part of the CSU NCAA I Women’s Golf Team (go Rams!).
